The law firm of Mathew & Associates handles both the criminal and civil elements of antitrust litigation, providing defense or plaintiff representation. Our attorney takes cases throughout Arizona.
Our clients include defense contractors and other corporations, officers and directors, employees, brokerage firms, public officials, and other individuals. We litigate civil claims and defend criminal charges under the Sherman Antitrust Act, the Clayton Act, the Federal Trade Commission Act and other federal or state regulations governing commercial fraud or restraint of trade:
Qualified for Competition Law
Ivan Mathew has excellent credentials and is well-suited for antitrust litigation. He is a CPA and holds an advanced law degree in International Business Law from the London School of Economics. He has taught classes on U.S. antitrust law and European Union laws of competition to international assemblies of lawyers. Mr. Mathew's federal court experience includes four years as an Assistant U.S. attorney and the 19 years since as a defense lawyer focusing on federal fraud and financial crimes.
Mathew & Associates has achieved notable victories for clients on both sides of antitrust litigation:
Defense Counsel — We represented officers in a brokerage firm investigated for price-fixing in the offering of municipal bonds. The transaction involved a complex bond structuring but no criminal intent. Mr. Mathew was able to articulate for prosecutors and the grand jury both the free market economic principles and the arcane workings of publicly issued securities. As a result, his clients were not indicted.
Plaintiff Representation — We represented a group of nurses who were hired through temporary staffing services. Mr. Mathew filed a civil antitrust suit against several hospitals for conspiring with temp agencies to fix nurse salaries, and achieved a settlement on behalf of the nurses.
Mathew & Associates has represented a number of defense contractors, defending against bid rigging allegations or violation of government procurement laws.
